Airline company reduces airfares to ₦80,000 for yuletide season

Aero Contractors, Nigeria’s oldest private airline, has announced a significant reduction in airfares for domestic flights during the Yuletide season. Starting at ₦80,000, the new fares aim to alleviate the financial strain on passengers traveling for the holidays.

Captain Ado Sanusi, Managing Director of Aero Contractors, revealed that the discounted fares will be available until January 2025. He explained that the price cuts are part of the airline’s commitment to supporting Nigerians during the festive season, acknowledging the challenges many are facing due to the high cost of airfares.

“In the spirit of Christmas, Aero Contractors has introduced ‘pocket-friendly Christmas prices’ to make travel more affordable,” Sanusi said during a press briefing on Tuesday. He emphasized the airline’s goal of making it easier for families to reunite with loved ones during the holiday season.

The new fares, which start at ₦80,000 for all destinations, are expected to have a positive impact on travelers. Sanusi reassured that despite the price reductions, Aero Contractors will remain profitable, having carefully analyzed the economic landscape before implementing the cuts.

“We have studied the economic situation and believe these adjustments will keep Aero profitable while providing affordable travel options for the public,” he stated.

Aero Contractors’ three aircraft are expected to handle the increased demand during the holiday period. Sanusi also encouraged other Nigerian airlines to follow suit and offer similar fare reductions to benefit their customers.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Aero’s economy class ticket for a Lagos-to-Abuja flight was priced at ₦99,643, while business class tickets were listed at ₦189,167.
