After 62 years, England claims first victory in Italy in Euro qualifier 

The England senior football national team, the Three Lions, on Thursday night beat the Azuris of Italy 2-1 in Italy for the first time since 1961.

The Three Lions broke the jinx in one of the group’s fixtures in the qualifying matches of Euro 2024.

The match which was played at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona stadium, Naples City, Italy also saw captain, Harry Kane scoring his 54th goal to be England’s all time scorer.

Kane had scored from the penalty spot in the 44th minute when he beat Gianluigi Donnarumma for his 54th goal, overtaking previous record holder Wayne Rooney.

Declan Rice had opened scoring for England on 13th minute, firing the rebound inside the right post after the ball broke to him in the box.

Kane doubled from the penalty spot on 44th minute to make it 2-0.

Italy pulled one back on 56th minute. Lorenzo Pellegrini showed great vision to find Mateo Retegui with a cheeky pass inside the box, and his first-time shot was precise and sailed into the bottom left corner.

Luke Shaw was sent off from the pitch after he received his second yellow card for misconduct.
