The Anwarul Huda League of Nigeria (AHLON), Youth Wing organised a transformative 1-day seminar titled “Empowered by Faith: Navigating Life’s Challenges with Confidence in Allah.” The event took place at the AHLON Divisional Headquarters’ conference hall in Area 1, Garki, Abuja, attracting attendees eager to explore faith-based strategies for managing life’s difficulties.

The seminar commenced with opening remarks from Brother Abdulazeez Alabi, chairman of the planning committee, who underscored the vital role of faith in overcoming challenges. “In today’s fast-paced world, it’s crucial for our youth to recognise the strength that faith provides in times of adversity,” he stated. Alabi also emphasized AHLON’s vision of helping youth acquire knowledge and skills necessary for personal and community development.

Dr. Abdulfattah Adeyemi, a renowned counseling psychologist, was the first speaker and addressed the significant stressors young people face, particularly in relationships. “Understanding the challenges of marriage and friendships is essential,” Dr. Adeyemi emphasized. “Many times, we are surrounded by friends who cannot truly support us during tough times. Stress and anxiety can invade our lives, leading to a constant state of unrest.”

He continued, “The barrage of notifications and social media demands can drown us in distractions. We must cultivate the ability to find stillness amidst the chaos.” Dr. Adeyemi’s insights resonated with attendees, many of whom nodded in agreement as he described the overwhelming pressures they experience daily.

Following Dr. Adeyemi’s session, Alhaji Almarouf Adebayo, former chairman of AHLON’s Kuje Branch, presented a lecture on “Managing Stress and Anxiety Through Faith.” He offered practical advice for coping with challenges through spiritual practices. “Faith is not just a concept; it’s a powerful tool for navigating the difficulties of life,” Adebayo remarked. “Through prayer and community support, we can find solace and strength to face our challenges.”

He emphasized understanding stress as part of life’s challenges and urged attendees to rely on spiritual practices like dua (supplication), patience, and gratitude. He explained that self-care, avoiding excessive attachment to worldly matters, and seeking contentment are essential for inner peace. He also advised reciting Quranic verses to calm the heart, believing in destiny, and having good thoughts about Allah as ways to find strength and resilience in the face of difficulties.
