Fire destroys Lagos Blue Line track
A fire outbreak has caused significant damage to a section of the Lagos Blue Line track near the NEPA Station, located opposite the Eko Bridge in the Apogbon area of Lagos State. The incident occurred at approximately 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Gboyega Akosile, the spokesman for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, provided details about the incident through his X.com handle, assuring the public that no casualties were reported. He confirmed that train services were not operational at the time of the fire, which helped prevent potential injuries.
Emergency services quickly mobilized to the scene, with a team of safety and first responders effectively extinguishing the flames. Akosile reassured the community, stating, “Lagosians in that area can go about their business peacefully as the situation is under control.”

He further advised residents to remain vigilant and await additional updates regarding the operations of the train service from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (@Lamataonline).
The swift response from emergency teams was instrumental in preventing injuries and mitigating further damage. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire while ensuring that safety protocols are followed in the area.
