Almizan Newspaper honours Dr. Yusuf Ali, Prof. Gwarzo, Media Trust, Sakafa, Editor Musa

Mizani Publication Ltd, the publisher of Almizan newspaper, celebrated its 35th anniversary by honoring five individuals and one organization for their outstanding contributions to society.

The three-day event, held from January 10 to 12, 2025, concluded on Sunday, January 12, at the Mambaya House auditorium in Kano.

The first award recipient was Malam Ibrahim Musa, the founding Editor-in-Chief of Almizan. He was recognized for his crucial role in ensuring the newspaper’s longevity and commitment to providing accurate and reliable information. Malam Musa received the award alongside his dedicated team.

Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the founder of MAAUN Niger, FBIU Kaduna, and Canadian University, was also honored for his significant contributions to journalism and education across Africa.

As the former Chairman of the African Journalists’ Rights Protection, his work has had a lasting impact on the media landscape. The award was accepted on his behalf by Professor Mohammad Israr, President of MAAUN Nigeria, and Professor Abdullahi Muhammad Sabo, Vice Chancellor of FBIU Kaduna.

A posthumous award was presented to the late Dr. Yusuf Ali in recognition of his invaluable support and contributions to Almizan. His children, Malam Misbahu Yusuf Ali and Dr. Bilkisu Yusuf Ali, accepted the award on his behalf.

Media Trust, the publisher of Daily Trust, Aminiya, Trust Radio, and Trust TV, was honored for its 14 years of collaboration and partnership with Almizan. Malam Naziru Mika’il, a former Director at Media Trust, presented the award to the Daily Trust correspondent in Kano.

Additionally, Malam Saidu Sakafa, a prominent martyrs’ singer from Potiskum, was recognized for his contributions to Almizan through his music over the years. The singer and his team expressed their gratitude while accepting the award.

The honorees expressed appreciation for the recognition and wished Almizan continued success and prominence in the community. The three-day celebration featured speeches from scholars, journalists, and experts, with participants from various regions of the country, including reporters, staff members, and other well-wishers.
