The Federal government appears to be in love with negotiations with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as it has urged the union to suspend its ongoing strike and go back to the renegotiation table, despite having not met agreements in previous negotiations.
Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige said in a statement that the union did not follow due process before embarking on an industrial action.
ASUU began an indefinite strike on Monday to protest government’s lack of commitment to implementing previous agreements.
The minister added that the Ministry of Labour and Employment would ensure that a time frame is tied to negotiation this time around.
He also noted that all requirements for a fruitful dialogue had been put in place.
