Amaechi, Malami dump APC for ADC

In a shocking development, two high-profile members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Amaechi and Abubakar Malami, SAN, have resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, announced his defection after unveiling the interim executive of ADC in Abuja. He expressed deep-seated frustrations with the APC, accusing the party of colluding with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hijack the 2027 elections. Amaechi stated that he had warned the APC leadership not to invite him to meetings, but they continued to do so, prompting him to take a stand.
“I left APC last night,” Amaechi confirmed. “I never attended one meeting. Last time they invited me, I warned them… I said, if you invite me to any meeting anymore… In fact, I was surprised that I wasn’t even expelled because I warned them in writing, don’t even invite me to any meeting.”

Amaechi emphasized that his decision to leave APC wasn’t about changing the government but about changing Nigeria. “Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat. People can’t buy food. There’s no money to buy food. Everything is gone. Inflation is at its peak. The federal government is busy going around trying to hijack the election. INEC is helping them to hijack the election.”
Meanwhile, Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, also expressed similar sentiments in his resignation letter. He cited the APC’s failure to address Nigeria’s pressing issues, including insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance. Malami stated that his decision to leave APC and join ADC was driven by love for Nigeria and a desire to rescue the country from further decline.
“My Fellow Nigerians, and the Good People of Kebbi State,” Malami wrote, “After wide consultations and deep personal reflection, I hereby announce my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and my decision to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party of choice for our coalition, a coalition driven by the urgent need to rescue our country from further decline.”

Malami highlighted the dire state of the nation, noting that “Nigeria is bleeding. Insecurity has taken over our homes, especially in the North.
Banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism have become part of our lives while the government prioritizes politics over the safety of its citizens.”
Both Amaechi and Malami believe that the ADC offers a better platform for Nigerians to demand change and shape the country’s future.
