Anthony Joshua’s driver to face reckless driving charges after hospital discharge
The driver of the SUV transporting former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, during the fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been discharged from hospital and may soon be prosecuted for reckless driving.
Sources at Duchess International Hospital in Lagos confirmed that the driver was released after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. Anthony Joshua, who was also taken to the hospital earlier, is reported to be in stable condition.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the driver has been discharged and is currently cooperating with investigators.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Sagamu interchange, where the damaged truck involved in the crash was impounded, stated that preliminary findings suggested the SUV was speeding and engaged in dangerous overtaking prior to the collision.
The FRSC also revealed that the truck driver involved fled the scene immediately after the crash and has since been declared wanted.
Earlier investigations by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) indicated that the accident was triggered by a burst front tyre on the passenger side of the SUV, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into a stationary truck. TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed that overspeeding contributed to the loss of control.
