Story from Najib SANI, Bauchi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) wards’ congress appeal committee sent to Bauchi State has stated that it is improper for any aggrieved member to sue the party on the outcome of the last wards congresses.

The Chairman of the appeal committee, Blessing Agbomhere, stated this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen in Bauchi.

He said if any party stalwart, chieftain feels shortchanged or not satisfied with the result of the wards congresses held recently, he should channel his grievances to their committee saddled with the responsibility of looking at all petitions and acting on them.

“You have to, first of all, come to the appeal committee. If anybody goes to court, that person has done that in violation of the constitution of the APC”, he said.

According to him, the committee has so far received 10 petitions saying they would work on it with a view to uniting members of the party so it can triumph in the next elections in the state.

Agbomhere opined that the consensus method adopted by the party in electing the wards’ officials in the state was democratic and in line with both Nigerian and APC constitutions.

“The truth of the matter is that people don’t know what consensus means. Consensus is democratic and consensus is election. Consensus means that all of us in this area have agreed to avoid rancour and dispute”, he asserted.
