APC Youth Leaders Forum in Yobe urges party unity, calls for regulation of support groups
Story by Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leaders Forum in Yobe State has issued a clarion call for greater unity and coordination within the party, urging the state leadership to formally integrate all support groups under the party’s umbrella.
The appeal was directed to the State Governor and APC Leader, Mai Mala Buni, and the State Party Chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Gadaka.
The appeal seeks their intervention to ensure all APC support groups align their activities through the state party secretariat.
The Forum, comprising the 17 Local Government Area Youth Leaders under the leadership of its Chairman, Babangida Adamu Jajere, made the call on Monday during a crucial meeting in Damaturu.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Forum expressed concern over the unchecked proliferation of numerous self-styled APC support groups across the state.
It noted that many of these groups operate without the knowledge or recognition of the official state and local government party structures, yet present themselves as party representatives.
“The emergence of various support groups is a welcome development, indicating growing interest in our party,” the Forum stated.
“However, allowing them to operate independently, without official integration, risks creating division and disunity.”

Citing the example of the APC National Secretariat, where all support groups are coordinated under the office of the National Secretary, the Forum urged the Yobe State chapter to adopt a similar model for cohesion.
Consequently, the Forum formally requested that Governor Buni and Chairman Gadaka mandate all existing and future APC support groups to register their existence and activities under the leadership of the state APC executive.
“We believe this step is vital for fostering unity, understanding, and the progressive development of our dear party in Yobe State without any hindrance.
The forum reaffirmed its loyalty and declared its “one hundred per cent support for the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration and the state party executives.
