With much intensity brought into the game by Arsenal, Eddie Nketiah doubled the lead but was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
United’s lack of organisation in the back four made them concede another goal in the 32nd minute after Alex Telles brought down Bukayo Saka in the 18 yard who made it 2-0.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo returned to action for the Reds after he was excused on Tuesday against Liverpool due to the death of his baby son.
The 37-year-old did managed to put the ball at the back of the net in the 34th minute with an assist from Matic – making it his 100 Premier League goal.
However, Ronaldo’s goal was not enough to motivate his teammates to resist Arsenal’s pressure as they put added another goal make it 3-1 in the 70th minute courtesy Granit Xhaka.
The Gunners are now fourth with 60 points, two points behind Chelsea while Tottenham Hotspur trails with 57 and United 54.
