ASUU slams Tinubu govt over corruption allegations
About two years into the Bola Tinubu administration, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has given its assessment of the administration, lamenting that institutional weaknesses, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and endemic corruption undermine governance at all levels.
The union is also asking the Federal Government to release the ₦150 billion revitalisation fund.
New President of ASUU, Professor Chris Piwuna, stated this at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.
Piwuna alleged that the government is benefiting from insecurity plaguing some parts of the country, which is why the issue persists without a solution.
The new ASUU President, who decried the level of implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement, called on the present administration not to test its resolve, adding that it has delayed embarking on strikes for about a year.

Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital and current Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos, was recently elected as ASUU’s 14th President.
This is his maiden press conference since his election.
