Atiku, others react to leaked audio conversation of Peter Obi, Bishop Oyedepo 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the leaked conversation between the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith church.

In the leaked audio clip, Obi could be heard urging Oyedepo to encourage Christians to vote for him.

“Daddy, I need you to speak to your people in the South-West and Kwara, the Christians in the South-West and Kwara. This is a religious war,” Obi allegedly said in the trending audio.

But, Obi’s Media Aide, Valentine Obienyem, said the leaked audio conversation between his principal and Oyedepo was edited out of context.

Atiku’s spokesman, Daniel Bwala, said the conversation in the leaked audio was highly condemnable but said the content of the leaked audio has nothing to do with the petition at the presidential tribunal.

In a tweet, Bwala wrote, “The conversation in the audio leaked by (Only God and time will tell) is highly condemnable.

“But it has nothing to do with the quality or otherwise of his petition at the presidential tribunal. The grounds for the petition are in Section 134 of the EA, not the audio.”

On his part, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate in the July 16, 2022, election in Osun State, Goke Omigbodun, has backed Peter Obi over the alleged leaked audio conversation with Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church.

In a radio current affairs programme on Monday in Osogbo, Omigbodun said that if Obi said what was leaked in the audio, he was just being truthful.

”I have not accepted that he said it, but if truly he said so, he was just being truthful,” he said.

The guber candidate insisted that it was the All Progressives Congress, APC, that first started bringing religious sentiment into politics.

”If truly Peter Obi said so, I am part of the people that will back him up that he can say so.

“Because it was APC that first started it.

”Some parts of APC members gathered people together telling them not to vote for ‘Kafiri’. Who are these ‘Kafiri’ they were referring to?” Omigbodun stated.

Peter Obi was the Labour Party presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
