Austrian man bitten by a 5ft python snake ‘in genital area’ as he sat on toilet at home

A reticulated python has bitten an unnamed 65-year-old Austrian man on his genital area as he was sitting on the toilet in his house.

According to reports, the man was using the toilet in his bathroom at around 6 am and felt a “pinch in the area of his genitals” He then turned around to check, and saw a 5ft foot (1.5 metres) albino snake crawled up inside the toilet bowl.

The reticulated python, a constrictor native to Asia, has the ability to grow up to a length of nearly 30ft (9m).

Residence believed the python may have found its way into the toilet via the network of drains in the apartment block in the Austrian city of Graz, as the snake belongs to a 24-year-old neighbour of the victim, who legally owns 11 non-venomous constrictor snakes, and bred them in his compound.

The Austrian police in a statement said, according to the man, “Shortly after he sat on the toilet, he felt a ‘pinch’ in the area of his genitals, that was when he checked and realised, he been bitten by the snake. He raised alarm and was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment for the snake bite wounds.

The police said the injuries are minor as the snake is non-venomous.

Regarding the snake, the police said, a reptile expert was contacted by the emergency services. Who came and removed the snake from the toilet, cleaned it, and returned it to its owner.

The police added that the 24-year-old owner has been reported to the prosecutors’ office on suspicion of negligently causing bodily harm.
