Bandits attack security escort, kill 5 policemen, 3 soldiers

A group of uniformed men who were escorting workers of a construction site, Setraco, to Tsafe LGA in Zamfara encountered an ambush where five policemen and three soldiers were killed by bandits.

According to reports from military sources, the swift response by military officers prevented further casualties between the construction workers, the remaining security personnel and the bandits.

“Unfortunately, we lost three soldiers and five policemen, and their rifles were taken by the terrorists,” the military source said.

“Police have evacuated the bodies of both the personnel and the bandits,” the said, adding that many bandits were killed during a gun battle that followed the ambush.
