Bandits  in  Katsina kill 5 residents, burn police station, sack communities

Terrorists wreaked havoc in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria, killing five residents, burning a police station, and displacing communities in the Kurfi Local Government Area.

The assailants targeted three villages in a banditry raid, intensifying concerns over rising insecurity in the region.

Survivors, now seeking refuge in other communities, staged a peaceful protest demanding restored security.

Gunmen stormed Wurma village, firing indiscriminately, resulting in the tragic deaths of five heads of households and the pillaging of valuables.

“As we speak, our village has been sacked; no single human being lives there again. We have abandoned everything to stay alive,” lamented one resident.

Authorities confirmed the incident, revealing that terrorists had not only attacked Wurma but also targeted Lambo and Guda villages in Kurfi.

Commissioner for Homeland Security, Nasir Babangida Ma’azu, noted the heightened attacks, stating, “During the first raid, the bandits went from house-to-house hunting for those to kidnap. On their second visit, they burnt down the police station, forcing the residents to run for their lives.”

The surge in terrorist activities raises concerns about the security situation in Katsina, prompting calls for urgent measures to protect residents and address the escalating violence.
