Bandits in Zamfara abduct many passengers, burn vehicles
In yet another brazen attack, armed bandits abducted six travellers and set their vehicle ablaze on the Shinkafi road near Kwanar Jalaf village in Zamfara State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, has further deepened fears among residents and commuters in the region.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the bandits blocked the road, forcing the Golf car carrying the victims to stop. The armed men abducted all six passengers before torching the vehicle.

“Six travellers were abducted, and their vehicle was set ablaze. We don’t know if it was the group led by Bello Turji because he had threatened residents of Shinkafi and other local communities,” a resident said, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons.
The attack comes just days after notorious bandit leader Bello Turji issued warnings of impending violence targeting innocent citizens in Shinkafi and Zurmi communities in Zamfara State, as well as Isah and other localities in Sokoto State.
Residents have expressed growing unease over Turji’s threats, fearing a surge in violence as the New Year approaches.
Communities across Shinkafi and surrounding areas have renewed calls for the government to take swift and decisive action against the escalating activities of bandit groups in the region.
“We are living in fear every day. The government must act now to protect us from these criminals,” another resident said.
