Bandits kill RCCG pastor’s son, abduct wife, demand ₦30m

Tragedy struck in a community close to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, when terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, killed the son of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor, while abducting his wife in the process.

The incident happened in Mararaba, a Nasarawa State community close to Abuja.

According to reports, the Minister, Austin Ifeji, was attacked in the early hours of Monday by the heavily armed bandits in his home at Gwagwalada, Mararaba, near Abuja.

It was gathered that the pastor, Ifeji, escaped with machete cuts forcing the bandits  to abduct his wife.

At the same time, the kidnappers shot his son, who attempted to defend his mother and inflicted more machete cuts on him in the presence of his other siblings.

It was reported that after killing the son, the bandits took the wife away and made a demand of ₦30 million ransom.

It is unclear if she has been released as of the time of the report.

Sources said efforts to revive the son in the hospital proved abortive.

“The boy is the only son of his parents as he has four other sisters. He did not like how they were manhandling his mother and confronted the kidnappers, and they shot him,” a source revealed.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Rahman Nansel, said the command was not aware of the incident.
