Real Madrid were disarmed on every side by rivals Barcelona in Sunday’s El Classico thriller as Carlo Ancelotti’s boys left the pitch humiliated in a 4-0 defeat.

Goals from Gabon international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored a brace in the 29th and 51st minutes, Ronald Araújo in the 38th and Ferran Torres in the 47th were enough to do the damage on Real who were without their talisman, Karim Benzema due to injury.

The hosts’ defence were wide open courtesy of Ousmane Dembele and Torres giving Barça the opportunity for the opening goal with an Aubameyang header from a Dembele cross.

The pressure continued on disorganised Real Madrid conceding a corner taken by Dembele and headed into the net by Araujo.

Ancelotti tried to change the dynamic, making two substitutions during the break but Barca scored in the first minute of the second half with an angled shot from Torres after a backheel by Aubameyang.

Five minutes later, former Manchester City forward Torres returned the favour, teeing up ex-Arsenal striker Aubameyang for his second goal.

Barca had several opportunities to extend their lead, but Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois avoided any further humiliation. Reuters
