Basico Alumni Chairman, Dr. Ndanusa, OON, appointed Taskiran Minna
The Basico Alumni Association, an association of students of the Ahmadu Bello University School of Basic Studies (SBS), Zaria, has joined in celebrating the elevation of its Chairman, Dr. Suleyman Abdu Ndanusa, OON, who has been conferred the traditional title of Taskiran Minna.
This recognition, bestowed by the Emir of Minna, highlights his outstanding leadership, dedication, and tireless service to his community, according to a statement signed by the secretary general of the Alumni Association, Mrs Tamani Yusuf.
This title, granted by the Emir of Minna and Chairman of the Minna Emirate Council, HRH Alhaji Dr. Faruk Bahago, CON, acknowledges Dr. Ndanusa’s exceptional contributions to his community and his continued commitment to improving the lives of those around him, the statement further said.
Dr. Ndanusa’s recognition is a testament to his selfless leadership and his decades-long service to his community. As Taskiran Minna, he will hold a significant responsibility in advising and overseeing the wealth of the Emir and the Emirate Council, including their assets in local and foreign currencies and other valuable resources.
This role, deeply rooted in tradition, reflects his wisdom, integrity, and financial expertise, but above all the trust and confidence the bearer is held by the Emir to entrust him with secrets. The Hausa have a saying, Taskira, asirin mai ɗaki.
In local lore, the title Taskira, according to the statement, signifies the guardian of the wealth and assets of the Emirate, an honour that Dr. Ndanusa will undoubtedly carry with pride and diligence.
His background in banking and finance has long been a cornerstone of his success, and this latest recognition brings his leadership to the forefront once again.
Alongside his new title, Dr Ndanusa continues to serve as Jarin Nupe — the Treasurer and Advisor to the wealth of both the Bida and Minna Emirate Councils, further demonstrating his integral role in the governance and prosperity of the region.
Mrs Tamani Yusuf assured Dr. Ndanusa that the Basico Alumni Association could not be more proud of Dr. Ndanusa and his many accomplishments, wishing him continued health, prosperity, and success in this new chapter of his illustrious career.
