Bauchi Senator, Shehu Buba, donates ₦50m to Borno flood victims

The Chairman, Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has donated the sum of ₦50 million to support victims of the flooding disaster in Borno State.

Media aide to the Senator Sulaiman Lalaye in a statement said Senator Buba made the donation Thursday when he visited Maiduguri to commiserate with the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the people of the State.

The lawmaker, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, was accompanied by the leadership and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress in Bauchi, which included State Chairman of APC, Mohammed Lawal Tilde; former Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Yahaya Miya; Alhaji Bala Hadith, and many stakeholders from Bauchi South Senatorial District.

Senator Buba commended Governor Zulum and the Borno State Government for their prompt response to the disaster by deploying emergency services to provide relief materials, evacuate affected residents, and restore basic services.

He commended the federal government for its swift response and support, urging development partners and humanitarian organisations to assist Borno State to mitigate the impact of the flood.

He said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the affected victims, we sympathised with the people of Borno State and prayed for the souls of the deceased, speedy recovery for all those affected by the disaster.

Borno State Governor, Professor Umara Zulum, expressed gratitude for the support extended by the senator.

He thanked Senator Buba for the swift assistance provided during such critical time and pledged that the assistance will be used judiciously for the benefit of the victims.
