Bayern thump Bochum to retake top spot

Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday, thrashing bottom-placed Bochum 5-0 away from home. The victory came days after a tough Champions League loss to Barcelona, with Bayern bouncing back as five different players contributed to the scoreline.

Under new coach Vincent Kompany, Bayern showed impressive attacking play despite recent struggles, having won only once in their last six matches. Moritz Broschinski nearly put Bochum ahead early, but a weak shot allowed Bayern defender Minjae Kim to clear off the line. Bayern quickly took control, with Michael Olise scoring first from a free kick. Jamal Musiala then doubled the lead with a header from a Joshua Kimmich set piece.

Bayern’s dominance continued in the second half with Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, and Kingsley Coman each adding a goal in a 14-minute period. Kane’s goal, his ninth in eight league games, was the result of Musiala’s creative setup. Sane took advantage of Bochum’s defensive error, and Coman finished with a powerful strike off the crossbar.

The win puts Bayern back on top on goal difference, while Bochum remains at the bottom with just one point from eight games.
