Boko Haram strikes convoy, burns vehicles with passengers inside
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed security vehicles escorting motorists along the Gwoza-Limankara-Uvaha road, resulting in the tragic death of a soldier on the spot.
Additionally, during the ambush, a security patrol van was set ablaze, and five commercial vehicles were incinerated, with their passengers trapped inside. As a result, a dozen bodies remain unaccounted for.
Local sources, as well as security personnel, revealed that this incident occurred around 5 pm while soldiers and civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) members were providing protection for travelers heading to Gwoza in Borno State and the northern regions of Adamawa State.
A military source, who was present at the scene of the attack, stated, “The GOC was at the scene of the attack. A soldier and many passengers were killed in the ambush, and five vehicles including a military van were burnt with the passengers inside. A few female passengers were abducted by the insurgents but were released this evening”.

The Senator representing the Borno South, Ali Ndume, who also confirmed the incident said the ambush happened on Saturday evening.
He said that the spike in killings in the Goza area has become rampant in recent times. “It happens on a daily basis. So, we are calling on the military to take the fight to the enclave of the insurgents because we all know where they are.
“Farmers are now scared of going to harvest their farmlands, so it’s high time that the military should lead the civil who are willing to take part in the fight, provide them with logistics to liberate the area,” Ndume said.
