Buni swears-in Gulani LGA Chairman, members of audit service board

Yobe State Governor and Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, on Monday swore in the new Chairman of Gulani Local Government Area (LGA), Chairman and members of the Audit Service Board.

The ceremony which was attended by prominent stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC took place at the Government House, Damaturu, the state capital.

In his address, Buni said, “we have just witnessed the swearing-in into the office of Honourable Dayyabu Ilu as the new Executive Chairman of Gulani Local Government Area.

“As we are all aware, his appointment was necessitated by the vacuum created following the demise of Ahmed Musa Gulani the former Executive Chairman of the Local Government Area.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. All of us are from Allah and unto Him, we will return. All souls must taste death at the Divinely appointed time. We, therefore, pray for the repose of the soul of Ahmed Musa Gulani and may Aljannatul Firdausi be his final abode”.

“I wish to congratulate him on his new responsibilities and urge him to build on the successes recorded by the late Chairman. As the leader of Gulani Local Government Area, he should strive to keep his Council and people united and maintain an open-door policy for the development of his area of jurisdiction in particular and Yobe State at large”.

Also, the governor swore in Alhaji Goje Modu Balube as the Chairman of State Audit Board and five other members in line with the provisions of Public Service Audit Law.

The new State Audit Board Chairman was sworn in along with his other Board members comprising Yusuf Aji Amshi, Lawan Abba Wasili, Dr Umar Majalam Ibrahim, Alhaji Mala Gana, and Haruna Usman Kollere.

Buni explained the functions of the constituted Board to include “Confirmation, selection and appointment of persons recruited by the Auditor-General for state and local governments.

“To handle all matters of promotion of staff of the offices of the Auditor-General for state and local governments.

“To Subject any staff of the offices of the Auditor-General to disciplinary processes and impose sanction based on the recommendation of the Auditor-General for state and local governments.

“To perform such other duties and functions as are necessary or expedient for discharging its functions under this Law.

“The Audit Service Board shall advice the State Government on policy issues relating to Audit matters.”, Buni said.

Buni congratulated the appointees and enjoined them to work harder and in harmony with one another and management staff in accordance with the rules and regulations.
