CDS orders troops to crush criminal hideouts in Kaduna, Plateau
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has issued a firm directive to troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to destroy criminal hideouts in Kaduna and Plateau states as part of intensified efforts to combat banditry and insurgency in the region.
General Musa addressed the troops at the newly established National Mission Brigades in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna State, and Sector 8 Mangu, Plateau State. His visit was part of an ongoing operational tour of Defence Headquarters (DHQ)-led operations.
In his speech, the CDS emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures to eliminate threats at their source. “Take the fight to the criminal hideouts and flush them out completely,” he instructed.

While urging the troops to maintain aggressive operations, Musa also highlighted the need to respect the rights of civilians and avoid collateral damage. He remarked, “Personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are trained to protect lives and property while respecting citizens’ rights.”
General Musa challenged the troops to demonstrate heightened vigour in 2025, cautioning against any illegal activities that might tarnish the reputation of the Armed Forces. “Desist from practices that could bring disrepute and work as a team to achieve greater operational successes,” he added.
The Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, confirmed that Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Commander of Operation Safe Haven, briefed the CDS on the security situation within the joint operational area.
As part of his visit, Musa paid homage to the Chief of Kagoro, His Royal Highness Agwam Ufuwai Bonet, in Southern Kaduna. He commended the royal father for his unwavering support for troops operating in the region.
