China’s foreign minister to visit Nigeria on Wednesday
The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, is set to arrive in Abuja on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, for an official visit aimed at strengthening Nigeria-China relations.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, will engage in high-level discussions with Nigerian officials to explore ways to deepen bilateral ties, particularly in trade, infrastructure, and technology.
The announcement was made by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday.
During his visit, Wang Yi will meet with Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, for bilateral talks on Thursday, January 9. The discussions will center on enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
Upon arrival, Wang Yi will be received by Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
In addition to his diplomatic meetings, Wang Yi will also visit Nigerian President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he will deliver a special message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Nigeria and China, opening new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
