Christmas: Let’s be our brothers’ keepers – Gov. Buni
The Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni (CON, COMN), has extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians in the state as they celebrate Christmas, urging them to use the occasion to promote peace, love, and unity.
In a statement signed by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni expressed gratitude to God for the improved security situation in Yobe, noting that citizens can now go about their legitimate activities without fear.
“This calls for celebration and appreciation to God for making our state more secure and peaceful,” the statement read.
He encouraged the Christian faithful to seize the festive season as an opportunity to pray for continued peace, security, and prosperity in Yobe and across Nigeria.
“We should build and promote more peace and peaceful coexistence for the development of the state,” the governor added.
Governor Buni hosted the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Yobe State branch, during a Christmas visit. He urged religious leaders to emphasize the message of peace, love, and justice in their sermons.
“We should spread the message of love because we are all created and loved by God. All scriptures preach and promote peace, and we must be our brothers’ keepers,” he stated.
The CAN delegation, led by Professor John Onyema, praised Governor Buni for fostering inclusivity and extending a sense of belonging to Christians and non-indigenes residing in Yobe.
“You have demonstrated true leadership by supporting everyone in the state, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds,” Professor Onyema said.
He further commended the governor for the developmental strides that have benefited all residents of the state.
“As 2025 approaches, we urge you to continue your good works for the benefit of all,” Onyema added.
In recognition of Governor Buni’s support for the North East Unity Carol and his commitment to fostering unity, CAN presented him with an Award of Excellence during the visit.
The governor reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Yobe State remains a beacon of peace and development, urging citizens to embrace unity and love as the foundation of progress.
