Collaboration between the mass media and elites is enhancing security in Katsina State — Matasa Media CEO, Muhammad Danjuma

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Matasa Media Links, Mr. Muhammad Danjuma, has attributed the increased atmosphere of peace and security in Katsina state to the growing understanding and collaboration between the mass media, the citizens and the political leadership in the state.

Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Publisher, Chief Executive Officer of Neptune Prime, Dr Hassan Gimba at the corporate headquarters of the paper today in Abuja.

He said while banditry has not been completely eliminated from the state, local government areas such as Charanci, Jibia, Batsari, Kurfi, Kankara, Malumfashi and Faskari among others, have been experiencing relative peace and security in recent times, “due largely to the increased enlightenment and the peace building efforts of all the stakeholders.
He outlined the achievements of his media organisation which include the positive public reception of its publications, and the ongoing peace talks in parts of Katsina State and expressed strong interest in partnering with Neptune Prime media, in order to enhance the benefits of media outreach to the society.

He explained that the Magazine, “Katsina City News”, is published in English to help present the people of Katsina their culture, and challenges to a wider audience pointing out that the magazine’s latest cover story focuses on peace negotiations between bandits and local communities, talks which he said, were initiated by the bandits themselves to afford them free movement and access to markets after years of tension and animosity with the with the rest of the society..

Danjuma said he was at the head office of Neptune Prime to foster collaboration and partnership between the two media platforms. He described Dr. Hassan Gimba as being both his mentor and inspiration thus making such a collaboration even more meaningful and natural.
