Condolence message on the death of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, by S. A. Tanko Yakasai OFR
The death of Chief Ayo Adebanjo today Friday 14th of February, 2025 is a colossal lost not only to the immediate members of his family and the entire Yaruba people but to our entire country Nigeria.
A dedicated patriot, Chief Adebanjo was a commited nationalist who maintained cordial relationship with other fellow Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
A very close friend of mine, Chief Adebanjo and myself maintained a very close relationship despite our political party differences between the two of us right from the First Republic.

The two of us belonged to two different political persuasion but yet remained very close friends since our first meeting each other in the early political party system in Nigeria, when he was a staunch member of the defunct Action Group (AG), whilst I belonged to the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) an ally of the NCNC, a strong opposing party at the time of the Ation Group.
A person with total commitment to the cause of his nation, Chief Adebanjo was a strong supporter of a united Nigeria right from the beginning of his partisan politics during the colonial era up to the time of his departure from this world.
I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife and his entire members of his family. May the Almighty Allah grant Chief Ayo Adebanjo eternal rest and grant his beloved family the fortitude and courage to bear this great loss. Amen
