COP28 Climate Summit: Tinubu meets King Charles III to foster Int’l cooperation

President Bola Tinubu engaged in a productive meeting with His Majesty, King Charles III, during the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The President shared details of the meeting on social media, expressing optimism about the positive impact of joint efforts between Nigeria and the United Kingdom on global environmental stewardship.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Tinubu described the meeting as a significant step in strengthening the partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He emphasised King Charles III’s role as the Head of the Commonwealth and a passionate climate advocate, highlighting the potential for their collaboration to shape an equitable global standard for environmental stewardship at COP28.

President Tinubu also noted Nigeria’s historical ties with Great Britain, recalling the country’s attainment of independence on October 1, 1960 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Following the queen’s passing in September 2022, King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, were coronated in May 2023.

The President’s engagement with King Charles III underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts to foster collaborative partnerships and address pressing global issues, emphasising Nigeria’s commitment to environmental sustainability and international cooperation.
