Court of Appeal debunks resignation rumours of Presidential Tribunal Judge
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has swiftly dismissed reports claiming that Justice Boloukuoromo M. Ugo, a member of the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC), has resigned.
The rumours originated from a tweet by Jackson Ude, a Nigerian journalist based in the United States, on Wednesday night.
Ude alleged that Justice Ugo had tendered his resignation, citing his reluctance to support President Bola Tinubu in the face of challenges to his presidential victory at the court.

According to the tweet, the judge feared that aligning with President Tinubu would spell the death knell for Nigeria’s democracy. This unsubstantiated claim garnered significant attention, with over 4,079 retweets and making the topic trend on Twitter.
However, upon reaching out to the Secretary of the PEPC panel, Mrs. Josephine J. Ekperobe, for confirmation or denial of the viral post, she categorically dismissed the information as fake.
The Court of Appeal’s prompt response has put an end to the speculations and quelled the swirling rumours about Justice Ugo’s alleged resignation.
As of now, there is no evidence to support the claims made in the tweet by Jackson Ude.
