Court sends pastor, wife to prison, seals off church over ₦52m fraud

Story by Victor Itodo ABUH

A pastor and his wife have been convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison by an Ikeja Special Offences Court for defrauding individuals and using their church as a cover.

Harry and Kristen Uyanwanne were found guilty of multiple charges, including fraud amounting to ₦52 million.

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the couple fraudulently claimed ₦10 million from the estate of a deceased woman, Mrs Adeola Odemuyiwa, and sold a property at Plot 32, Block 9, Magodo, Lagos, under false pretences.

During the sentencing on Wednesday, December 4, Justice Mojisola Dada ruled:

“The couple, who were arraigned on February 25, 2020, have been found guilty of all the crimes.”
