Dantata donates ₦1.5bn to flood victims in Maiduguri

Elder statesman and business mogul Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata has contributed ₦1.5 billion to flood victims in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Dantata presented the donation on Tuesday during a visit to Government House, Maiduguri, leading a delegation from Kano.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum, the government, and the people of the state, particularly those who lost loved ones in the flood.

Dantata, 96, lamented the country’s economic deterioration and urged elites and political leaders to repent and act with fear of Allah in their dealings. He also prayed for peace and harmony in Borno State and across Nigeria.

In response, Governor Zulum expressed deep gratitude for the elder statesman’s compassionate visit, noting that it serves as a powerful beacon of hope and solidarity during these difficult times.

“The people of Borno deeply appreciate this show of humanity from a 96-year-old. Let me say it clearly: Our Baba has donated ₦1.5 billion to support the flood victims. May Allah bless and reward you with Aljannah. Thank you, Baba,” Zulum said.

This gesture follows a similar contribution by Dantata’s nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who also donated ₦1 billion to the flood victims.
