DSS arrests house help in connection with gruesome murder of Ekiti varsity DVC

The Department of State Service (DSS), Ekiti State Command, has arrested the domestic staff of Professor Olorunfemi Olaofe, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, (EKSU) Ado Ekiti, in connection with his kidnap and murder.

The Secret Service disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.

Neptune Prime reports that Professor Olaofe was abducted at his residence in Ado Ekiti on 9th of July 2024 and later found dead in a shallow grave.

The service confirmed that the kidnap was carried out by a gang of seven persons invited by the house help at his residence.

The statement confirmed that investigation by the operatives of the command led to the discovery of Olaofe’s remains buried in a shallow grave at a farm settlement along Airport Road, Ado- Ekiti.

“The Department of the State Service (DSS), Ekiti State command, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state wishes to alert the general public on the uncovering of the gruesome murder of Olorunfemi Olaofe (Prof),” the statement read.

“This was occasioned by the planned kidnap of Olaofe by a gang of about seven suspected kidnappers at his residence, located at Plot 12, 15th Avenue, Federal Housing Phase II, Ado Ekiti on 9th of July 2024.

“Investigation activities revealed that the kidnap incident was masterminded by the domestic staff, who invited others to carry out the dastardly act.

“Further investigation by the operatives of the command led to the discovery of Olaofe’s remains buried in a shallow grave at a farm settlement along Airport Road, Ijan-Ekiti

”In the light of the above, the command wishes to address its profound gratitude to the state government for her invaluable support in the course of the ongoing investigation.

“However, the case will soon be transferred to the State Police Command for prosecution having established a case of homicide,” the statement said.
