EFCC secures final forfeiture of 324 multimillion-dollar homes recovered from Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Wednesday that it had obtained a court order for the final forfeiture of 324 properties recovered from the Kano State Pension Fund Trustees.

The Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, granted the order while ruling on a motion filed by the EFCC.

During the court proceedings, the EFCC stated that the properties were “reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities of the Kano State Pension Fund Trustees.”

The properties include 168 homes located at Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam, Bandirawo City, Kano; 122 houses at Sheikh Nasiru Kabara (Amana City), Kano, and 38 houses at Sheikh Khalifa Ishaq Rabiu City, Kano.

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, provided further details, stating that “The 168 houses at Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam Bandirawo City comprise 55 two-bedroom semi-detached houses, 51 three-bedroom houses, seven converted three-bedroom houses, 17 carport three-bedroom houses, three four-bedroom duplexes, nine five-bedroom duplexes, and 22 green-roof three-bedroom houses.”

Regarding the 122 houses at Sheikh Nasiru Kabara, Kano, Uwujaren stated that they “consist of 14 two-bedroom semi-detached houses, 62 two-bedroom semi-detached houses, four converted three-bedroom houses, 13 converted three-bedroom houses, three detached three-bedroom houses, 11 detached three-bedroom houses, three carport three-bedroom houses, five carport three-bedroom houses, two green-roof three-bedroom houses, three carport four-bedroom houses, and two Pergola four-bedroom houses.”

Finally, Uwujaren reported that the 38 houses at Sheikh Khalifa Ishaq Rabiu City, Kano, “comprise 19 three-bedroom bungalows, five green-roof three-bedroom houses, six four-bedroom duplexes, two four-bedroom BQs, one four-bedroom duplex, and five five-bedroom duplexes.”
