The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for questioning.
The invitation was issued in a letter dated November 24 and scheduled the meeting for Friday, November 28. The letter, signed by Sunday Atiba Ofen-Imu on behalf of the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, stated that investigators require information from the former minister in an ongoing case.
“The Commission is investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain information from you becomes imperative,” the letter read.

Malami was requested to appear before the Head of Special Duty Committee-3, with the agency noting that the invitation is in accordance with Section 38(1) and (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024.
“Your cooperation in this regard is highly solicited,” the letter added.
Although the EFCC did not disclose the specific reason for the summons, Malami has confirmed receiving the invitation and expressed willingness to honour it.
In a statement released on Friday, he reaffirmed his commitment to cooperating fully with investigators and upholding the principles of transparency in public service.
