“We wish to appreciate His Excellency, the executive governor of Yobe State for his foresight in establishing the YETFUND. We believe this is an assured way of boosting education at all levels.

“In Yobe State, we have noticed that since His Excellency declared a state of emergency on education, there has been serious focus on education by government. Similarly, there is renewed interest by parents on issues related to education.

“However, there is still room for improvement, a lot more needs to be done to save Yobe from backwardness in education. It requires the participation of all,  it requires sacrifice from every citizen.

“Education remains the only vehicle through which our country can attend nationhood, national cohesion, economic development, and additionally, peace and harmonious co-existence which our people have been yearning for.

“That is why we must commend the efforts of government and soldiers in containing insurgent activities in our area. Apart from the sad loss of lives, our schools, hospitals, and electrical installations were also vandalized by these insurgents.

“The insurgency primary goal was an avoidable intention to truncate education. This retreat will go a long way in repairing the damage.

“We commend our military and government for turning the hand of the clock regarding these insurgents. Today our resilient people have returned to their normal life.

“At this juncture, I assure everyone that traditional rulers are fully in support of every move towards boosting education in Yobe State.

“This commitment has been demonstrated many times and we are happy that the government has continued to engage traditional rulers whenever the need arises.

“For example, all the Emirates successfully mobilise our people to contribute funds during the launching of the Yobe Education TrustFund. It is gratifying that the efforts today is being translated into reality.

“Finally, I wish to commend the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education Trust Fund for the success of this project, we must commend them for their remarkable achievements and their passion doggedness in seeing that they achieve their primary goals.

“I wish them the best. We urge all stakeholders to reap the benefits of this retreat for the advancement of education in Yobe State,” the monarch said.
