ESN/IPOB suspected in Anambra Rep’s house fire

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN)/Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have reportedly set ablaze the residence of Hon. Paschal Agbodike, the representative of Ihiala Federal Constituency in the Anambra State House of Representatives.

The incident occurred around 1am on Tuesday, when the assailants invaded his country home located in Ubahi-Mbosi, Ihiala Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the attackers fired shots indiscriminately before igniting the compound, resulting in the complete destruction of the property.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The residence, a five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen, was ravaged by the inferno.

Hon. Paschal Agbodike, a former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, acknowledged the incident but refrained from attributing blame to any particular individuals or group.

Confirming the occurrence, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, informed the media in Awka on Tuesday that the area had been cordoned off, and security personnel had been dispatched to the vicinity.

He also mentioned ongoing surveillance efforts by the operatives.

The incident underscores heightened tensions, with suspicions pointing towards ESN/IPOB involvement.

As investigations continue, security measures have been bolstered in the affected area to maintain public safety.
