Fani Kayode, Dambazau, Omokri, others pass first phase of senate screening

Story by Okafor Vivian

Several high-profile nominees have successfully scaled the first phase of Senate screening, clearing an important hurdle in the confirmation process.

Among those who moved forward are Femi Fani-Kayode, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma Dambazau (retd.), and Reno Omokri, who were all approved by the Senate Committee to proceed to subsequent stages of their respective screenings.

The initial round of screening assessed the nominees’ records, professional backgrounds, and responses to preliminary queries from senators. Their progression signals growing confidence among lawmakers in the suitability of their nominations for the roles they have been proposed to fill.

The Senate is expected to continue with further evaluations, which will include more detailed questioning and deliberations before final confirmation votes are taken on each nominee.

Lawmakers said the screening process remains open, thorough, and merit-based, aimed at ensuring only qualified individuals are appointed to key public offices.
