FCT Head of Service, Grace Adayilo, passes away

Grace Adayilo, the first-ever Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has died.

She reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.

Her death was confirmed by her Special Assistant on Media, Anthony Odey, in a brief text message to our correspondent. “Yes, please,” the message read. Odey did not provide any additional details regarding the circumstances of her death.

Adayilo made history when she was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on October 6, 2024. She was not only the first person to hold the position but also the first woman. Before this landmark appointment, she had served as the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat.

At the time of this report, no official statements have been released by her family or the FCT Administration.
