FG begins monitoring of education projects under GPE in Adamawa

The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has commenced the last lap of monitoring the construction and renovation of temporary learning spaces under the Global Partnership Education (GPE) accelerated funding project in Adamawa State.

Malam Adama Adamu, the Minister of Education, stated this at the commencement of the exercise in Yola.

The Minister who was represented by Dr Lydia Giginna, Director of Support Services, said the essence of the exercise is to ensure that the grand given for the project has been effectively utilised in line with the expectations to create a conducive, safe, and healthy learning environment for learners.

“We are here today to commence the last lap of the monitoring exercise of the construction and renovation of temporary learning spaces in order to ensure the effective utilisation of the grand released.

“Education is an essential tool in nation-building and the government requires the support of partners and the private sector to achieve this.

“The management of the Federal Ministry of Education greatly appreciates the support received from UNICEF and other relevant agencies toward achieving the desired goals”, she said.

The minister further urged all stakeholders to join hands with the government to see that the grand provided for the venture is judiciously used for the efficient delivery of education in the BAY states.

In his remarks, Dr Salihi Ateequ, Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) commended the effort of the federal government towards the development of education in the country.

He assured the team of all the necessary support for their successful assignment in the state.

Mr Joel Jutum, UNICEF education consultant in Adamawa, explained that the projects were executed in six local government areas of the state, Fufure, Guyuk, Mubi-South, Mubi-North, Michika, and Hong.
