Federal Government College (FGC) Buni Yadi yesterday, 24 February 2020 organised a prayer session in remembrance of its students that were massacred 2014.

Parents, traditional ruler’s, teachers, old students were among the hundreds of people that graced the occasion of the six-year remembrance prayers for the massacre of students in FGC Buni Yadi.

The occasion was held at (FGGC) Potiskum where the school is temporarily stationed. Mr Balami Bwashang, the immediate past principal of the college after the incidence occurred, narrated how the suspected gunmen attacked the college.

“The attack was launched on the 24 February 2014 when the school was on midterm break, some of the students resumed while others were yet to resume back to the college by then and that is the reason that reduced the rate of casualties in the attack. 29 of our students were killed, some were burnt, slaughtered and others died by stray bullets.

Mr Balami said the whole school premises were burnt, classrooms, staff quarters, clinic, laboratories and Admin block were all burnt down.

According to Idriss Abba Disa, President of the Old Students Association who was represented by Liman A. Goje expressed his disheartening over the attacks by the gunmen.

He condoled with the parents of the deceased and also said that the union are doing their best to make sure that the school feels their presence as the alumni association of the college.

The president further stated that the union have renovated five classrooms so far and they are talking with the federal government to post more teachers into the college.
