FGN issues certificate of registration to CONUA, NAMDA

Barely four months after the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) recognised the operations of the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA) and the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) as unions in the universities, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment yesterday formally issued certificate of registration to the bodies.

By this certification, the two bodies shall be accorded full rights of operation but to operate within the bounds of trade union.

At the presentation of the certificate in Abuja, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, said the issuance of the certificates followed after the end of 90 days unchallenged government gazette of the unions in line with the extant laws.
