Gabriel Jesus leads Arsenal to victory with 3-1 win over Brentford

Arsenal narrowed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to six points with a 3-1 comeback victory over Brentford on a rainy evening at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Despite an early setback from Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half goal, the Gunners rallied, with Gabriel Jesus continuing his red-hot form by scoring the equalizer. The Brazilian striker, who has now netted six times in his last four games, capitalised on a rebound in the 29th minute to cancel out Brentford’s lead.

Mikel Arteta’s men sealed the win with a dominant second-half performance. Mikel Merino scored his second goal for Arsenal after a scrappy set-piece in the 50th minute, and Gabriel Martinelli added a third moments later with a composed finish following a clever assist from 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

The victory elevated Arsenal to second place, surpassing Nottingham Forest and solidifying their claim as strong contenders in the title race.

Arsenal’s evening started shakily, with goalkeeper David Raya enduring a tough return to his former club. Raya’s misjudgment allowed Mbeumo’s low drive to slip in at the near post, giving Brentford the lead in the 13th minute.

Another nervy moment saw Raya barely prevent Mbeumo from doubling the home side’s advantage.

However, Arsenal responded with resilience, turning the tide through clinical finishing and set-piece mastery.

Nwaneri, making his first Premier League start, showcased maturity beyond his years, contributing to Arsenal’s third goal.
