Garki Traditional Council hails winners of AMAC poll, calls for sustained peace

The Secretary of the Garki Traditional Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Lazarus Nyaholo, has appealed to the political actors in the area to avoid heating up the polity by prevailing on their followers to be calm, peaceful and law-abiding in the aftermath of the just-concluded council elections.
Mr Nyaholo said the traditional council was impressed with the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed throughout the electioneering campaigns as well as in the conduct of the elections and wished that the peace be maintained even long after the exercise.
While appealing to the political parties and their flagbearers to “take the outcome of the elections in their stride in the spirit of sportsmanship”, he described the exercise as “yet another major landmark in the political evolution of the council area towards a blossoming democracy and representative governance at the grassroots.”
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies for “a job well done” by ensuring that the elections were “rancour-free, thereby leading to an election that was credible, free and transparent.”

He advised that security and operational lapses observed in the FCT polls should be corrected in good time in order to enhance a greater level of success and integrity of the 2027 general elections.
The traditional ruler congratulated Mr Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, winner of the election in AMAC, for what he described as “a well-deserved victory” and urged him to be magnanimous in victory by “extending the olive branch of peace to his opponents for the advancement of all in the area, regardless of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.”
Mr Nyaholo stated that the Garki Traditional Council will continue to remain neutral on matters of partisan politics while playing the role of a father to all communities in the district without discrimination between indigenes and other Nigerians residing in the domain.
