Gov. Buni flags off construction of 34km Danchuwa-Jajere Road project

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has officially flagged off the reconstruction of the 34km Jajere- Damchuwa road project in the state.

Speaking at the flagging off ceremony in Jajare Community, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the Jajere – Danchuwa Road has been on the drawing board since 1999 and various attempts have been made by previous administrations to construct the road but could not be executed because of various challenges.

Buni stated that the road, when completed would unveil and harness the rich agricultural, livestock, and other potentials that abound in the area as well as improve socio-economic life in these communities.

He revealed that the reconstruction of the road project was awarded to a reputable company, QUMECS Nig. Ltd, for the excellent construction of a 34km road project.

“This project was awarded at the cost of N5,032,732, 211.02, and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

“The contractors are hereby directed to adhere to all specifications contained in the contractual agreement,” said the Governor.

Buni directed the state Ministry of Works on the rehabilitation of all roads washed away by the floods last year.

He further said the state government through the State Emergency Management Agency has provided skill acquisition training to 100 youths also from Jajere with a start-up capital of N150,000 each, while 500 farmers were supported with agricultural inputs.

According to him, these would be sustained to promote self-reliance, food sufficiency, and security.

He enjoins the benefitting communities of the project and all other projects across the state to support and cooperate with the contractors to facilitate quality and timely completion of the projects.
