Yobe State Governor and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Mai Mala Buni, on Monday, commissioned the Al-Ma’arif College of Health Sciences and Technology Potiskum.

Gov. Buni who was represented by his Deputy Idi Barde Gubana during the ceremony urged the institution to strictly adhere to the accreditation guidelines as well as work closely with Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services for improved services and collaboration.

He urged other well-meaning individuals in the state to emulate the proprietors of the college by investing in the education sector for the benefit of the state citizens.

The state chief executive pleaded with the management of the college to charge less tuition fee at the beginning in order to enable enrichment of children of the masses in the institution.

Also speaking, the Chairman Board of Directors of the College and National Chairman JIBWIS Nigeria, Sheikh (Dr) Abdullahi Bala Lau, hailed President Muhammad Buhari for the restoration of peaceful coexistence in the Northeast region and Yobe State “even though there are few challenges but better than the past where this occasion can not hold”.

He used the forum to preach to the community members against committing sins and all immoral acts so that God will help in providing peace and development in the area.

Lau revealed that the JIBWIS has greatly complemented federal government in the area of climate change programme “we have planted a number of trees in order to control desertification for improved environment and good health”.

The Chairman of the College Board of Directors appealed to the state government to assist the College with a Toyota Coaster Bus that will be used to convey the students living off-campus to the town.

On his part, Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Sani Rijiyan Lemo, College Director and Vice Chairman Board of Directors of the College, revealed that they decided to establish the College in Potiskum town in recognition of the population as well as their post insurgency contributions to the educational development of the state.

He disclosed that the school is fully equipped with facilities to impart knowledge to the students and acknowledged the support of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sheikh (Dr) Abdullahi Bala Lau, the support of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and Potiskum community which enabled the actualization of the dreams of the College.

Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana represented by the Executive Secretary Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina enumerated Governor Mai Mala Buni’s achievements in the health sector which includes provision of primary health facilities in each of the electoral wards of the state and support to the social equity programme with N200million.
