Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Mai Mala Buni presented the 2021 Appropriation Bill to the Yobe State House of Assembly in Damaturu the state capital on Thursday 12 November 2020.
The Bill tagged as budget of “Recovery, Consolidation and Economic Rejuvenation,” is more than the N86.04 billion that was budgeted for 2020 by N20.94 billion or 17.2 per cent increase.
During the presentation, Governor Buni announced that the 2021 budget would largely dwell on completion of all ongoing projects.

He said the N63.18 billion or 59.5 per cent of the total estimate was earmarked for recurrent expenditures, while N43.81 billion or 40.95 per cent would go for capital expenditures.
Governor Buni said sectoral allocations included: Administration, N12.44 billion recurrent expenditure and N4.36 billion capital expenditure; economic, N23.54 billion recurrent expenditure and N30.9 billion capital expenditure.
The Governor said recurrent expenditure for Law and Justice stood at N1.77 billion and N592 million for capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure for Social Services was N25.42 billion and N8 billion for capital expenditures.
He said the Ministry for Housing and Property Development would receive the largest share of N8 billion while the Ministry of Works would get N7.84 billion within the fiscal year.
Governor Buni listed projects to be supervised by the two ministries to include the ongoing construction of Potiskum Trailer park, construction of modern markets in Gashua, Nguru, Geidam; township roads in Damaturu, Gashua, Geidam, among others.
He said other ministerial allocations would include: Transport and Energy, N3.53 billion; Health N2.12 billion; Basic and Secondary Education, N3.69 billion; Agriculture, N4.18 billion; Commerce Industry and Tourism, N4.52 billion, Rural Electrification, N1.59 billion, among others.
He also said that the sum of N1.89 billion would be set aside for various youth empowerment programmes.
“We will invigorate our drive-in providing numerous empowerment packages for our industrious and teeming youth to facilitate the realization of their dream of self-actualization, self-reliance and economic prosperity.
“We will seek collaboration with various Federal Government agencies and international nongovernmental organizations for the attainment of our goals in this regard,” Buni said.
Responding, the Speaker, Alhaji Ahmed Mirwa, commended the Governor for his programmes and projects which he said had direct bearing to the lives of the people.
He assured Governor Mala-Buni that the consideration of the estimate by the House would be inclusive, transparent and accountable.
