Gov. Fintiri okays construction of hostels at Adamawa Law School with N855m

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has approved the sum of N855 million to build some hostels at the Nigeria Law School in the state.

The State Executive Council (SEC) said the intervention of four blocks of hostel would be completed within 12 months.

Addressing journalists after the council’s meeting, the State’s Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Iliya James, said the decision was to cushion the suffering of students, particularly in the area of accommodation deficit in the school.

He said that the council gave the approval to ensure that more students are admitted for the mandatory one-year law study, stating further that the institution is the only law school in the North-East region.

The commissioner also noted that from the takeoff of the school in 2013, only 250 students were admitted, but now, 400 students are currently admitted, stressing that with the intervention, more students will be admitted.

On sports, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Barrister Wali Yakubu, said the Adamawa State contingents were in Taraba from 28th to 31st August for a zonal competition as a prerequisite for the 9th September national youth game scheduled to take place in Asaba, Delta State.

Yakubu said the state participated actively and clinched first in 7 of the 10 games and second in the 3, giving Adamawa the baton to represent the region in Asaba.
