Gov. Ganduje awards N110 million contract to non-existing company for 1km road

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has awarded a road project to the tune of N110 million to a non-existing construction company.

According to dependable sources, the contract was awarded to Stonegate Quaries Limited in 2019 which is now abandoned according to an investigation carried out by newsmen.

It was also discovered that officials of the state government have made an unsuccessful effort to recover the money. The Ado Bayero Road Network Project at Dorayi Baba in Gwale LGA was first awarded in 2019 by the Kano Executive Council chaired by Ganduje with a sum total of N110 million.

The sum of N38 million was approved for the project in 2019, other approvals came in subsequent years, but findings revealed that though the total contract sum was paid, the job is yet to commence.

Stonegate Quaries Limited has its office at 1011 Domkat Bali LN Mabushi District, Abuja, is the company handling the project according to a Metal board square fixed at the project location that carriers details about the project, client, contractor and the supervision of the project, but the company is not registered with CAC.

When contacted by the media over the project, Commissioner for Works, Engineer Idris Wada simply said: “who told you the company is not qualified, and what is your problem with that, is the work not been done properly or did the company not pay tax”.
